A day of learning, sharing and celebration at the International Quality Awards

The CQI’s flagship event returned and saw a day of learning, sharing and celebration

The fifth International Quality Awards (IQA) took place on Thursday 23 June 2022 at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London and was also followed virtually by many via #CQIQualityAwards.

Temple QMS was proud to be Gold Partner for the event, with many of the Temple team their to enjoy the event too!

We celebrated the achievements of exceptional quality professionals and auditors across the globe in the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London and this year for the first time the event also played host to the Quality Futures Summit, with thought-provoking panel discussions on some of the biggest topics and challenges faced by the profession.

We’d like to say congratulations to all of the winners and finalists at the International Quality Awards.

The winners were:

Emerging talent winner:  Shauna Davis, Jacobs

Shauna has been a Management System Project Engineer at Jacobs for just over 18 months. In that time, she has already made a significant contribution to Jacobs ES&T Quality and Performance Team thanks to her wide range of formal training, experiences and assignments. As well as developing a career as a quality professional, Shauna is passionate about governance and promoting STEM careers to young people.

Digital innovation winner: Alfred H Knight

After being appointed to provide inspection services at Kamoa-Kakula copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Alfred H Knight used existing technologies in innovative ways to develop efficient inspection systems which were able to keep up with the vast scale and fast-pace of the mine.

Sustainability impact winner: Hayleys Fabric

As Sri Lanka’s largest fabric mill, Hayleys Fabric’s commitment to ESG aligns with 14 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Their strategic roadmap puts emphasis on seizing opportunities to shape a greener future, ‘striving and thriving’ for a better tomorrow and responsible and responsive corporate citizenry.

Quality professional of the year: Louise Ebrey, Network Rail

Louise began her career as an engineer, before evolving into a quality and change professional. Her ability to engage with and inspire people stood out in her application. The judging panel was particularly impressed by her emphasis on ‘building capability’ and putting people at the heart of quality improvement.

Quality team of the year: Quality Department, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT)

ELFT offers a range of mental health, community health and primary care services to young people, working age adults and older adults across East London, Bedfordshire and Luton. Within the Trust, the quality teamwork to build improvement capability, and empower teams to solve complex quality and safety issues using QI.

Quality organisation of the year: Wilcox Limousines

This family-run SME specialises in the conversion of cars into hearses and limousines. As part of their continuous improvement strategy, they have adopted a cultural change which pairs quality culture with strategic planning, putting their customers and the environment at the heart of their approach.

CQI Volunteer of the year: William Rankin

William is a Senior Quality Leader for a global satellite company, where he is responsible for designing and deploying integrated management systems. He has over 18 years’ experience in the quality profession and has worked across four different industry sectors from pharmaceutical, oil and gas, to nuclear fusion and laterally communications. William is the Chair of the Audit Special Interest Group (SIG), a committee member of his local Thames Valley branch and an active member on the Content Advisory Panel.

CQI Outstanding contribution to quality management practice: Dr Gregory H. Watson

Greg’s long and significant contribution to quality management is a product of his deep commitment to enquiry and a personal mission to use his knowledge and influence to make society better. His work teaching, consulting, speaking and writing is prolific and global.
