Modernising the Foundation of Innovation at Autodesk
Transforming a 20-year legacy QMS into a lean, value-driven framework that supports global manufacturing workflows.
The Challenge: Overcoming "System Fatigue"
Autodesk is a global leader in CAD/CAM solutions, the software that powers the world’s manufacturing workflows. Within their Technology Centre, they test and validate these workflows in real-world environments. To maintain their position, they must operate with the same level of discipline as their customers.
While Autodesk had held ISO 9001 certification for over 20 years, that longevity created its own challenges. The QMS had evolved into a complex structure built on layers of legacy processes. Documentation had become fragmented and redundancies had crept in, making it difficult to navigate.
Nick Hill, Director at Autodesk, recognised that the challenge was not merely remaining compliant, but modernising the system to ensure it added value to the business rather than creating an administrative burden.
The Temple Approach: Simplification and Modernisation
When Temple was invited to partner with Autodesk, our first task was to look beneath the surface of their existing documentation. Working closely with Nick’s team, Bob and Roz identified that the system reflected years of incremental updates that no longer served the current pace of the business.
The Strategy: Three Core Pillars
Eliminating Redundancy
Stripping away the "noise" of legacy procedures to find the leanest path to compliance.
Pragmatic Collaboration
Ensuring the audit process felt like a support mechanism, not a bureaucratic hurdle.
Operational Alignment
Making certain that every process supported the way Autodesk operates daily.
Precision and Engagement
The result of this collaboration is a QMS that is significantly simpler, more intuitive, and fully aligned with Autodesk’s operational goals. By streamlining the framework, we have helped the team achieve faster, more focused audits and clearer documentation.
By modernising these controls, Autodesk has reinforced the rigour expected in advanced manufacturing while strengthening the trust they hold with their own clients.
A service that delivers real, measurable value.
"Temple is a team that truly understands our business and delivered a service that simplified and modernised our QMS: creating processes that now deliver real, measurable value."
