How an English Council Operates From Solihull Borough Council

Event: Wed, 19 Jul 2023 19:00 BST

Join Sarah Barnes & Clare Rudge from Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (Solihull MBC) for a webinar on how an English Council works.

CQI Birmingham Branch Committee would like to invite Members and guests to their next online event. The aim of the event is to give an insight into how a typical English Council operates, learn about Solihull Council, its services, access to Council services, users of Council Services both businesses and the general public.

Solihull MBC’s Head of Business Intelligence & Improvement, Sarah Barnes and Group Manager – Growth Strategy & Commissioning, Clare Rudge will be presenting via Teams.

There is lots more than just schools, planning applications, libraries, parks, rubbish collection, licensing, business support that Solihull MBC has to undertake for more than 216,000 residents and thousands of businesses. Working in partnership with Citizens Advice, Trading Standards, West Midlands Combined Authority, Government bodies like Public Health England and other partner bodies, Councils have to ensure relevant legislations and standards are followed.

The current Solihull Council Plan which was approved in July 2020 sits alongside the Council’s other key strategies including Health and Wellbeing strategy and Economic strategy. It sets the strategy and the Councils contribution to the delivery of Our Vision – Solihull: where everyone has an equal chance to be healthier, happier, safer, and more prosperous.
